An involutive fuzzy complement edge operator

Abstract

A fuzzy complement edge operator has been developed based on the Yager involutive fuzzy complements. The proposed edge operator has been validated with a recently available fuzzy edge operator on the basis of the results of the well-known Canny edge operator. The edge operator has been tested with test images of 8 bits/pixel and size 256 × 256 and found to be superior for representation of image edges with better visual quality. Also it is observed that a variety of clear and sharp edge images with different thickness can be obtained by the proposed edge operator.
