Abstract

Ferrocement technology is becoming more attractive for repair works in concrete construction. It is crack resistant, water proof and amenable for use to strengthen the cracked concrete members. Previous studies are concentrated on the experimental investigations on the strengthening of RCC elements with ferrocement. This paper presents the numerical models of rectangular beams to predict the flexural behavior strengthened with ferrocement. Finite element beam models having the same dimensions and properties as the experimental test specimens are constructed using ANSYS. The ANSYS sofyware is used in this study to simulate the behavior of reinforced concrete beam strengthened with ferrocement composites using the finite element method. The validity of the results is made with the available experimental and theoretical results reported by S.P.Shang, L.O.zeng, and H.peng.
