Abstract

Studies on RC snubber network design calculations for Half Bridge Converter using Fuzzy Logic have been reported in this communication. It confirms the applicability of the fuzzy logic to SMPS design. Fuzzy Logic is an alternative design methodology simpler than conventional methods. The use of fuzzy logic helps to circumvent the need of rigorous mathematical modeling. It offers high computational efficiency of implementation and very simple intuitive way for engineers to describe a complex problem using decision methodology of fuzzy set theory. As compared to conventional method, fuzzy approach needs to evaluate fewer rules (10:1) hence the system performs faster. The results of the design for RC snubber network for various collector currents for a typical transistor have been reported. These results show close resemblance with the results worked out by the conventional technique.
