Abstract

A research framework is developed to predict the process parameter optimization of Friction Stir Welding [FSW] process. Based on this framework the effects of welding parameters like rotational speed, axial force, transverse speed and tool geometry on the mechanical properties of the weldment can be investigated. As the frame work covers both the convectional and non convectional methods of optimization, the dynamics of the process can be clearly visualized. In this paper the research potential on FSW on aluminum alloy is addressed.
