This research work presents the effect of fibres on high-strength reinforced concrete beams with and without fibres. The study parameters for the investigation included ultimate load, ultimate deflections, crack width, energy ductility and deflection ductility and the associated failure modes. The fibres used in the investigation are steel fibres and polyolefin fibres. The fibres were added in concrete at different volume fractions of 0.5%, 1.0%, 1.5% and 2.0% with combination of steel-polyolefin at 100%-0%, 80%-20% and 60%-40%. The test results of high-strength hybrid fibre reinforced concrete beams were compared with high-strength steel fibre reinforced concrete beams and high-strength concrete beams [HSC] with no fibres. The test results show that the hybrid fibre content of 2.0% with 80%-20% steel polyolefin combine exhibits better performance in terms of strength, deformation, ductility and cracking characteristics.
