The Tiresoil ‘Pneusol’ is a technique of valorization of waste tires applied in civil engineering. More than 2000 works are known through out the world: creation of arching, reducing earth pressure, banks and slopes safety device…This paper presents a qualitative study of a new application of the Tiresoil that is the Tiresoil under foundations on expansive soils. Two sorts of soils were investigated for different number of layers of Tiresoil. Laboratory test results show that the disposition of Tiresoil layers in sandwich between a load and expansive soil reduces the transmitted vertical swelling pressures. The dimensioning of the Tiresoil in these cases is not only determined by the load due to the foundation but also by the soil swell potential Tiresoil; Sand; Bearing capacity; Settlement; Expansive soils
