Abstract

In this paper, we present an effective method in dealing with the problem of optimization of the reactive power in an electrical supply network. Moreover, we intend, by the present method, to maintain the tension within acceptable limits of operation and to control, by minimization, the transmission loss. Optimisation is based on the swarm of particles method (particle swarm optimization: PSO). For its validation, the technique is applied to the 220/60 kV Algerian Western network.
