This project is envisioned in realizing techniques to make image and sound compression in real time with a very high compression ratio without sacrificing the quality of the image & sound. The information or data generated as a result of image and sound processing in video telephony or teleconferencing is enormous. Thus it is the utmost importance to compress it before being stored or transmitted in real time. The contemporary technologies can not transmit using low bandwidth medium(e.g. Telephone line) as the compression of data is not so high. Our objective is to device a technique which compresses data to store & transmit efficiently. This project is aimed to achieve solutions in the three fields of Information Technology in three subsequent phases, namely
Data Compression (Specially image & sound)
Video Compression (By mixing up the above mentioned two techniques into one)
Applying the techniques developed in the preceding two phases to make a solution in the field of telecommunications, specially teleconferencing and mobile communication.
Vector Quantisation(VQ), Pixels, Codevector etc
