Abstract

The objective of this work is to develop AC to AC Converter for three phase induction motor with minimum hardware. This paper presents the simulation and implementation of four switch three phase inverter fed induction motor drive. The poor quality of current and voltage of a conventional inverter fed induction machine is due to the presence of harmonics. The Harmonic content can be reduced by using four switch three phase inverter. The simulation work was carriedout using Matlab simulink. The common mode voltage generated by four switch three phase inverter is compared with the output of the standard six switch three phase inverter. The control pulses are generated using an embedded microcontroller. The simulation and experimental results are presented to demonstrate the validity of the simulated results.
