Abstract

CDMA based cellular communication systems have gained popularity because of their ability to combat multipath propagation effects and higher capacity. Spectral efficiency of these systems is better due to unity frequency reuse factor. Performance of a CDMA system is generally measured in terms of Bit Error Rate BER of received data. Exact calculation of BER is computationally difficult and time consuming. Hence, BER approximate probability is generally used in these communication systems. In this paper we examine various approximation methods and present a simplified BER probability approximation, which works with low computational complexity.
