Framed joints can be critical regions in reinforced concrete frames designed for inelastic response to severe seismic attack. The amount of joint shear acting on the different types of joints viz. interior, exterior, corner has been investigated in this study. A Ground plus four storey building in zone V has been analysed with the aid of computer software. In zone-V the building is designed for three cases by varying the column B/D ratios and concrete compressive strength. The amounts of joint shear in three different locations viz., interior, exterior, and corner joints are compared. This building form a representative group of medium rise buildings which of lately have been included to be designed as only SMRF.
