Abstract

The designs of polymer composite components are arrived based on classical laminate theory calculations. Theoretically arrived properties of laminated composites provide a scope to rough estimates. The present work is focusing on preparing laminates as per ASTM 3039 specifications and tested to evaluate tensile properties of verities cross-ply orientations with controlled reinforcement volume fraction. The laminate design software developed based on laminate theory has been cross checked with realistic elastic properties of laminates. The author's objective is to establish methodology of designing composite components more realistically and more reliably.
