Abstract

In this paper, we optimize the design parameters which are required to search an effective multidimensional signal constellation for fading channels. A new decoding algorithm has been presented which is intended to explore the lattice sphere packing representation of a multi-antenna system, gives near Maximum Likelihood performance and decrease in complexity. Further, we propose a new combined architecture for multi-antenna systems involving the concept of rotated constellation concatenated with TCM using the low complexity decoder at the receiver for improving the system performance. The performance of the architecture has been evaluated for both rotated & unrotated constellations.
