Abstract

The paper discusses experimental analysis of improvement of coefficient of performance of Air Conditioning Test System. These are many methods used to increase the coefficient of performance of refrigeration and air conditioning machines. The most widely used methods involve subcooling of the refrigerant [10]. In the set up used for experimental analysis, the same method is used for improving COP of the system.

The system selected for experimental analysis of COP basically consists of hermetically sealed compressor, air cooled condenser, evaporator and the metering device, which regulates the flow of liquid refrigerant to the evaporator [10]. The function of the condenser in the refrigeration system is to desuperheat and condense the compressor discharge vapour, frequently to sub cool the resultant liquid.

In the experimental analysis, instead of air-cooled condenser, evaporative condenser is used. The comparative analysis shows that there is an increase in COP of the machine by 8%. The results for the experimentation are discussed in the form of comparative analysis of air conditioning system with air-cooled condenser and with evaporative condenser independently.
