Abstract

Slenderness ratio is a vital parameter which affects the performance of Reinforced Concrete (RC) columns. The wrapping of columns with Fibre Reinforced Polymer (FRP) leads to improved performance in RC Columns. The influence of slenderness ratio on the performance of reinforced concrete columns confined with varying thicknesses of FRP wrapping was studied using twelve columns having slenderness ratios in the range of 8 to 32. The performance of the columns at yield level and, ultimate level was studied. A multi-variate regression analysis was performed incorporating slenderness ratio as a parameter. The regression equation was able to predict the compressive strength of FRP confined concrete columns with with reasonable degree of accuracy.
