Radio over fiber (RoF) system has been identified as a reliable and flexible approach for the broadband wireless access networks. RoF being used widely for the distribution of cellular/radio and CATV signals to extend both coverage and capacity within buildings and also in metropolitan areas. In this paper we proposed a simulative approach for transmitting sub carrier-multiplexing (SCM) encoded multiple data signals over a common optical fiber (single mode fiber). Here we will study and investigate the bit error rate (BER) and quality factor improvements for the radio over fiber system at different optical fiber lengths which is comprised of an optical channel transmitted at 193.1THz at a bit rate of 10 Gbps at a constant dispersion of 16.75ps/nm/km. The maximum value of the Q-factor is 9.61dB in case of downlink connection and minimum value of 8.27dB in case of uplink connection has been reported in this paper. It is also noticed that a maximum value of Q=8.91 dB with min. BER < 10−12 has been achieved when dispersion level approaches to 16.75ps/nm/km in case of uplink connection.
