Abstract

The importance of jets in the engineering profession was stressed. Previous works were studied and mentioned. In this study, an experimental rig was designed and built. Nozzles with high exit aspect ratio of 170/1.7 were designed, constructed and use to execute the experimentation. The result shows that the single jet was fully developed at x = 20mm from the nozzle exit, whereas for the multiple jets, the respective jets maintained their separate identity until x = 60mm downstream of the nozzle's exit. Mixing commenced at x = 85mm and at a distance of three nozzles away, the jets have fully merged. The multiple jets became fully developed at x = 510mm from which point it assumed the characteristics of a fully developed single jet.
