Numerical Analysis of a Plate-Fin Cross Flow Heat Exchanger Having Plane Triangular Secondary Fins and Inline Arrangement of Rectangular Wing Vortex Generator

Abstract

The present investigation consists of a cross flow plate-fin heat exchanger in which the plane triangular shaped inserts are used as secondary fins. These secondary fins increase the ratio of heat transfer area to overall volume. Furthermore, on the triangular fins, inline arrangement of the rectangular wing vortex generator is attached to produce the longitudinal streamwise vortices. This mechanism strongly enhances the heat transfer characteristics. The vortex generator is always mounted at some angle of attack.Here the study is being carried out for the three angles of attack i.e. 15°, 20°, and 26°. At all angle of attacks, the aspect ratio of the wing is kept same i.e.0.2679 to have the comparative thermal analysis of the wing.
