In this investigation, Mild steel (AISI 1020) has been selected as the base material in the form of pins. Powders of pure molybdenum and Ni/Cr (80/20) were selected as the coating system. High velocity oxy-fuel technique was selected as the coating technique. The objective of this work is to study the dry sliding wear behavior of Mo-Ni/Cr HVOF sprayed coatings. The 150μm thick Mo and Ni/Cr coating with various percentages (i) 0% Mo+100% Ni/Cr, (ii)15% Mo+85% Ni/Cr, (iii) 40%Mo+60%Ni/Cr and (iv)100%Mo were deposited on the base material. The wear behavior of Mo-Ni/Cr pin on Ti-6Al4V disc tribo pair was analyzed by conducting wear studies under constant load of 1 Kg, sliding speed of 1.0 m/sec, sliding distance of 1000 m at room temperature and also at high temperature(250°C) using a pin-on-disc wear tester. The friction and wear characteristics of the coatings were studied. Also, the micro hardness variations of the different Mo- Ni/Cr coatings were studied.
