It is a critical component of an organization to generate enough income and to protect its interest and investment. It is the quality of a system's product that determines the integrity of the overall organization. This paper, therefore, examines the industrial effects of maintenance on product quality and establishes a theoretical model-associating fraction defective with maintenance (operational availability). The model was tested with two products production data acquired from a reputable manufacturing company in Nigeria. The developed model agreed with the production data acquired and the results obtained establishes an inverse relationship between fraction defective and maintenance.
