Biodiesel is also called as Fatty acid Methyl ester. It is an alternative fuel for diesel engines that can be manufactured from vegetable oils, animal fats and used cooking oils. It offers many advantages such as it is renewable, energy efficient, nontoxic, sulfur free and biodegradable, and also it usually takes cleaner combustion and reduces global warming gas emissions from the diesel engines. Specifically, the combustion of vegetable oil biodiesel does not add the net CO2 to the atmosphere, because the next crop will reuse CO2 to grow. In this paper performance and emissions of diesel engine using single composition of fatty acid methyl esters were studied. The experiments were carried out on a single cylinder direct injection diesel engine by fuelling Five kinds of pure FAMEs are methyl laurate, methyl myristate, methyl palmitate, methyl stearate and methyl oleate, the performance and emissions of diesel engine with the above fatty acids are studied
