Abstract

The proposed hybrid AC voltage regulator has a tap changing transformer and Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) ac chopper are combined. Using Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC) the tap selection of the transformer is made and step up or step down of the input voltage is done. The harmonics is reduced compared to the conventional PWM regulator. Through digital simulation, several characteristics are investigated theoretically and then compared with those of the conventional schemes. Simulation is performed using MATLAB/Simulink software, to predict the behavior and a hardware model was developed to experimentally verify the result.
