The role of fuzzy reliability and fuzzy availability technology in the sugar industry is discussed. The industry uses various systems, viz. feeding, crushing-cum-filtering, heating-cum-sulphonation and cleaning, cooling crystallization, separation-cum-cooling and collection for storage. We consider only the feeding system, the main part of the sugar industry. The effect of system coverage factor on the fuzzy availability is also studied.
