The use of the existing conventional fuels need rationalization due to rapid depletion, ever increasing cost, low availability, abundant availability of alternative fuels and the impositions of stringent legislation for controlling the level of emissions. This has been demanding the development of different forms of fuels. The primary problem associated with using straight Jatropha oil with an alcohol provides a significant reduction in viscosity, thereby enhancing the physical properties of the renewable fuel. This project deals with the experiment aspect of engine performance evaluation DI Engine using Jatropha diesel blend i.e. B-10, B-20, B-30, B-40, and B-50. Based on these results it was observed that for Jatropha – diesel blend (B-50/50) as highest brake power and lowest specific fuel consumption was observed over the entire load range.
