The effects of Diesel-hexanol blends were experimentally investigated on a diesel engine. Diesel and oxygenated hydrocarbon (hexanol) are blended in different percentage from 10%-50% by volume. These samples were tested on a single-cylinder, air-cooled, direct injection diesel engine developing a power output of 5.2 kW at 1500 rev/min and the results show improved performance with blends compared to neat fuel with substantial reductions in smoke, CO and HC with a penalty in NOx emission.
