Abstract

This paper deals with the implementation of JIT in an Indian automobile industry. Now days, Indian industries are facing many difficulties in competing with the multinationals. The competition has forced the Indian industries to adopt new strategies. Just-in-Time (JIT) has emerged as a key competitive strategy for business organizations in the global market place. Its effect is significant in improving the overall performance of whole organization. However, Indian industries are not able to fully exploit this new strategy because JIT implementation issue is a very big problem in India. This article, after briefly illustrating the concept of JIT, presents a case study of an Indian car-manufacturing unit, which has significantly benefited through the successful implementation of JIT.
