The study explores the effectiveness of the use of the flowers of Azadirachta indica in the electrochemical treatment and reuse of the dye wastewater, which was collected from various dyeing units of Sanganer area. Electrochemical treatment was performed using stainless steel electrodes in the presence of NaCl electrolyte and current density of 3mA/cm2. A substantial reduction in TDS, BOD, COD and heavy metals as compared to the original dye wastewater sample was observed. In the second phase of the study, shade–dried and powdered flowers of A. indica were added to the dye wastewater and electrochemical treatment was performed. A further decrease in pH, TDS, BOD, and COD was observed. The concentration of Cu and Zn showed a slight increase. The efficacy of the treatment has been tested by observing the survival rate of Gambusia affinis in the electrochemically treated wastewater, Azadirachta indica flowers treated dye wastewater and the original dye wastewater effluent.
