This paper presents the scenario of the available Photovoltaic (PV) simulation softwares till date. Some programs are specifically designed for photovoltaic applications and some include additional renewable energy simulation features. An extensive worldwide search was made for providing diagnosis of photovoltaic simulation softwares. The identified simulation softwares were evaluated according to the following general criteria
C1 their Commercial availability and cost
C2 their working platform
C3 their working capacities
C4 their scopes and outputs
C5 their updatability.
