Abstract

In this research, topographic quantitative effect and the related indices were analyzed statistically. In this study, standard indices involving landform index, terrain shape index and aspects. By using landform and terrain shape indices, valley situations, ridge and slope's positions and concave, convex and linear shapes were transformed into successive quantitative data. Aspect was transformed by means of the equation of Beers et al. to successive quantitative data. Results indicated that there is a significant difference between landform classes, terrain shapes and transformed aspects at error level of 5% (p<0.01). Based on discriminant analysis, overall classification success for landform index, terrain shape index and transformed aspects were determined 72.4%, 95% and 78% respectively.
