Rahi and kharif fodders of different varieties were analyzed at different harvesting intervals for carotene contents. In berseem, composite variety showed higher carotene content than other varieties. Carotene levels were higher wt second cut in all varieties. Among different lucerne varieties carotene content was greater in Sonara. Carotene contents were higher in 8+9 and Anchor at second cut, Worrior, Lancer and Sonara showed higher values at first cut. In Oats, Swan and Avon showed higher carotene than other varieties. Second growth stage in all varieties showed higher carotene levels. In sorghum, JS263 and Hegari showed greater carotene than other varieties. Inconsistent trend of carotene was observed in all varieties with respect to maturity of plants. Honat variety of bajra showed greater carotene content than Awnless variety. Carotene was higher at first cut in both varieties. In mazenta fodder carotene was greater at first, second and third growth stages. Sadabahar and cowpea fodders showed higher carotene contents at first growth stage.
