Supplementation of Novozyme SP-243 in the Diet of Layers Having Low Fibre Content

Abstract

A feeding trial was conducted to evaluate the effects of adding a fiber degrading enzyme in layer diet on the egg production, live body weight and metaholizability of various nutrient. A control diet (D1) having CP 21.84% and CF 5.60% was supplemented with NOVOZYME SP-243 at graded levels of I5g (D2), 25g (D3) and 35g/q (D4) of feed. It was observed that the addition of NO VOZYME. SP-243 at any level did not reflect in any change in the proximate as well as filler composition of the diet. The number of eggs laid during 56 d were 45,49, 52 and 49, whereas the amount of feed required to produce 1 kg of egg mass was 2.67, 2.21, 2.37 and 2.39 kg and for producing 1 dozen of eggs was 1.86, 1.56, 1.65 and 1.63 kg. in groups D1, D2, D3 and D4, respectively. However, the differences were nonsignificant. It was evident that the use of NOVOZYME SP-243 @ 15g/q of feed was most economical. The metabolic studies revealed that the use of NOVOZYME SP-243 at any level did not alter the metabolizability coefficients of proximate principles except EE whereas the values for ADF and cellulose metabolizability were significantly higher in groups D3 compared to that of control (D1) group.
