Four type of urea-molasses mineral block (UMMB) iicks weighing upto 3-4 kg were developed with sufficient hardness by mixing different proportions of ingredients and by utilizing exothermic chemical process. These Mere utilized in a feeding trial on 16 growing buffalo heifers divided in 4 groups of 4 animals each, for optimization of their intake and to evaluate their effect on wheat straw intake in straw based diet with little green supplementation. The animals were offered different UMMB i.e. UMMB-A (T1), UMMB-B (T2), UMMB-C(T3) and UMMB-D(T4). The mean daily intake of UMMB was 191, 154, 360 and 70 g in T1, T2, T3 and T4, respectively. The differences were significant (P<0.05) among treatments. Tbe average daily DM intake from wheat straw per 100 kg body weight was 1.31, 1.30, 1.49 and 1.22 kg for T1, T2 T3 and T4, respectively being significantly (P<0.05) higher in T3.
