Abstract

Performance of Mecheri sheep was compared with local bhick goats by feeding conventional ration in stalls. The DM intake was similar between two species. The digestibility was marginally higher for crude fibre in goats. However, the growth rate was 70% and feed efficiency 60% higher, In sheep than goats. Hence, it was concluded that Mecheri sheep were more suitable for rearing under stall-fed condition than goats.
