Abstract

Feeding protein from single cell to lactating cows was assessed. Zero, 25, and 50% of fhe protein from concentrate mixture was replaced through SCP. The cows received concentrate mixture in accordance to their maintenance and production requirement. In addition each cow received 8 kg of corn silage + jowaa kadbl ad lib. The milk yield, quality of milk and FCM were recorded. The least square means for milk yield did not differ significantly due to feed effect as well as non-feed effect viz, period, stage of lactation and parity. The FCM yield and the composition did not differ. However, the effect of age and body weight were significant, thereby indicating the possibility that SCP could be fed to animals.
