Efficiency of utilization of DM, CP and energy for milk production by Jamunapari, Beetal, Barbari and Black Bengal goals during early, middleand late lactation were studied. It was observed to range between 15–17 and 16.66% for DM, 28–35 and 29–50% for CP and 19.32 and 22.76 for energy. However, the defferences were not statistically significant. The conversion efficiency was found to be invariably higher in case of Black Bengal and lowest in Jamunapari. Stagewise, irrespective of breed, the conversion efficiency varied significantly (P<0.05) among different stages of lactation. The highest values were associated with early lactation and the lowest values during the late stage of lactation in all cases.
