The effect of dietary rice kani on the laying performance of hens was examined in a 112-d feeding experiment Rice koni (RK) was Incorporated w/w for the yellow maize at 6, 13, 26 or 39% level In diets formulatcd to be practically iso-nitrogenoos and iso-caloric and each of which was offered ad-lib, as mash to 18 White Leghorn hens housed individually in self-contained laying cages. Observations on feed consumption by birds, egg production and egg quality were made. Results showed that feed Intake, feed efficiency, egg production and egg mass of birds in different dietary groups declined progressively and significartly (P<0.05) with an Increase in the level of dietary RK beyond 13%. No noticeable treatment effects on egg weight and egg quality were, however, evident except for the yolk colour which faded significantly (P<0.01) with the inclusion of RK for yellow maize In diet.
