Growth Performance of Calves Reared by Feeding Milk vis-a-vis Ndri and Hpkv Milk Replacers

Abstract

Eighteen newly born Jersey and Jersey x Red Sindhi calves were reared by feeding milk (T1) vis-a-vis NDRI (T2) and HPKV (T3) milk replacers upto 90d of age. The respective body weight gains were 36.82±2.10, 28.20±2.70 and 33.31±2.30 kg which were observed to be sigaiticantly higher (P<9.05) both under T1 and T3 groups as compared to that of T2 group. The cost of calf rearing upto 90d was in descending order with conventional (milk), NDRI and HPKV milk replacers feeding viz., Rs. 1740.59, Rs. 1354.90 and Rs. 1331.61.
