In a long term study of feeding of Leucaena leucocephala, 3-5m old 21 Barbari male kids of similar body weights were divided into five groups in which L. leucocephala met 0, 25, 50, 75 and 100% CP requirements, respectively. At 12th, 20th and 32nd fortnight after rhe start of experiment, blood parameters i.e. acid phosphatase, alkaline phosphatase, SGOT, SGPT, blood urea, thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3) were estimated. Blood urea significantly decreased (P<0.05) at 32nd fortnight as compared to 12th and 20th fortnights. The levels of acid and alkaline phosphatases remained more or less unchanged due to level, of L. leucocephala and period of sampling. SGOT and SGPT were affected by.the period of sampling only. T4 was significantly lower (P< 0.05) on 100% Leucaena diet compared to control and treatment and T3 remained unaffected by level of L. leucocephala and period of blood sampling.
