Ammoniation of barley straw was most effective on using a combination of 3% urea, 50% moisture and 28 d incubatton period. Sucl ireated barley straw was used for formulating a complete ration mixing urea treated barley straw (UTBS) 46%; arliar (Cajanus cajan) straw 2U%; barley grain 32.3% and mineral mixture with salt 1.0%. On feeding such complete ration to Jakhrana goats it was observed that intake of DM, DCP and TDN was well above the suggested requirements. The digestibility coefficient of nutrient of the complete ration were DM- 63. 76; OM - 65. 39; CP - 52. 45; EE-77.63; CF- 78.33 and NFE- 59. 97%. The animals were in positive nitrogen balance. The DCP and TDN contents of the ration were 5.51±0.07 and 64.78±1.20%, respectively which could meet maintenance requirement of goats. Thus, it could be concluded that urea treated barley straw can be included at 46.7 parts in complete ration for maintenance of goats.
