Nine crossbred cows in their mid lactation were distributed in 4 groups In a switch over design experiment. The animals were fed ad-lib amount of green maize and concentrate mixture (75:25) to meet their nutrient requirements. Four types of concentrates using untreated soybean cake (Group I, III) and formalde-hyde treated (Group II, IV) soybean based rations were fed. In each period blood samples were collected on the last day and digestibility trial of 5 days collection was conducted after feeding the animals for at least 21 days. Data on intake of feed and milk yield were recorded daily while the changes in composition were studied by analysing samples collected during digestibility trial. The difference in intakes were nonsignificant except for fat. The degestibility of nutrient in 4 treatment group did not nary significantly except for ether extract (P<0.01) which depicted an increase at higher level of fat. The blood metabolites showed a significant (P<0.01) effect of treatment with respect to ammonia but not on urea. Milk production did depict an increasing yield, quality and persistency due to treat-with formaldehyde has no adverse effect, rather it depicts tendency of better utilization of nutrients by lactating animals.
