Naturally-contaminated groundnut cake (GNC) sampler containing 106.34 ug/Kg of total aflatoxin were treated separately with sodium bisulfite and sodium hydroxide each at concentrations of 0.5, 1.0 and 2.0% of DM and adjusted to a moisture level of 20%. The treated samples were kept for 24 h, 10 and 20 d, respectively at ambient temperature. At a period of 24 h all treatments were effective In reducing the total aflatoxin content. At periods of 10 and 20 d incubation an increase in atlatoxln content was observed. When treated samples were stored for a longer period there was regrowth of fungus.
