Abstract

Chaffed paddy straw wetted to 70% moisture level was inoculated with pleurotus spp. alongwith additives (organic and inorganic). Substrate samples, sifter harvesting the mushroom (10d) were analysed for DM digestibility in fistulated buffaloes fed straw-based rations. The samples of supplemented substrate (paddy straw) showed no improvement in in sacco DM digestibility in comparison to the unsupplemented control. Thus, the DMD of unfermented and unsupplemented paddy straw was better than the fermented and supplemented substrates.
