Abstract

Eight Iso-Bitrogenous complete rations, incorporating fibrous roughages such as spear grass (Heteropogon contontus) and nendra grass (Sehima nervosum) huys, sunflower, cotton and jowar (sorghum) straws, maize stover, groundnut hulls, bagasse and groundnut haulms each at 25% level were evaluated in vivo using six native bucks. Intake of DM ranged from 43 g for bagasse ration to 64 g/kg W0.75 for groundnut hulls containing ration. DM, NDF, ADF and cellulose digestibilities were significantly higher (P<0.01) with ration containing maize stover than In other rations. Maize stover appeared to he a potential roughage source for inclusion in complete rations of goats under Intensive system.
