Abstract

Acid treatment (HCI19% W/V @ 7 ml/100 g charge refluxed for 30 min.) of deoiled rice bran (DORB) reduced CF contents by 24.49 per cent, NDF by 15.50 per cent and ADF by 14.78 per cent. Week old triplicate groups of 18 broiler chicks were randomly maintained on a control or acid treated DORB containingdiets for six weeks, followed by 5 d metabolic trials and subsequently slaughtered. Weekly and overall weight gain, feed consumption and feed conversion ratio did not vary significantly between the groups. The utilization of organic nutrients, balances of N, P and Ca and dressing yield in both treatment groups did not vary significantly. Acid treatment did not improve the nutritive value of DORB for broilers.
