Abstract

Fifteen Marwari rams of uniform conformation, divided randomly in three groups, were fed subabul as sole feed (T1), subabul and sevan grass (50:50) alongwith 100g otguar churi (T), sevan grass alongwith 250g of guar churi (T3). All the rations were isonitrogenous. Defleecing was observed in group T1 five to nine days after feeding and in group T2 thirteen to nineteen days after subabui feeding whereas no defleecing was observed in the animals of group T3. The increase in copper levels from fifteen to ninety days and narrowing of calcium and phosphorus ratio over the same period in groups T2 and T3 were suggestive of some mechanism which negated the effect of subabul with the lag of time.
