Influence of Herbal Sweetner on the Palatability of Mustard Cake Based Concentrate Mixture in Kids

Twelve crossbred (Alpine x Beetal) kids (3m) were divided into two groups of sis each. Both the groups were fed on a concentrate mixture containing 30 parts of expeller pressed mustard cake. Total glucosinolates content of both the concentrate mixture was 1.58 percent on DM basis. Concentrate mixture of experimental group was mixed with herbal svveetner (Adarome Cattle) @ 15g/100kg. Concentrate intake in 60 min. as percent of its intake in 24 hr as well as total DM intake did not vary between the groups showing thatpalatability of ration did not improve by the addition of sweetner. Body weight gain/day and feed efficiency during the feeding of 28 days were higher in control group than in experimental group, however, variations between the groups were not significant.
