In Vitro Fermentation Pattern in Buffaloes Maintained on Ummb and Sani Feeding

Three fistulated adult male buffaloes, used as donor animals for SRL in n switch-over design, were offered urea-molasses mineral block (UMMB) and wheat straw (T₁), sani of UMMB mixed with wheat straw (T₂), and standard ration consisted of concentrate and wheat straw (T₃), respectively. The IVDMD at 12h was significantly (P<0.05) higher in animals fed on diets T₂nnd T₃ than that on T₁ but similar values were recorded on diets T₁ and T₂ at 24h. Similar trend was noticed for IVOMD. Both at 12 and 24 h, the level of ammonia concentration was significantly (P<0.05) higher on diet T₁ than on T₂ and T₃. TVFA concentration was significantly (P<0.05) higher on diet T₃ over T₁. There Mas no significant difference in protozoa count in different diets. The gas production was significantly (P<0.05) higher on diet T₂ followed by T₃ and T₁. Better fermentation was recorded on diet T₂, containing UMMB in the form of Sani.
