Effect of feeding alkaline hydrogen, peroxide (AHP) treated crop residues on the biochemical profile was studied on 3 fistulated male buffaloes in a 3x3 Latin square switch over design. Untreated I.e. control (T1) was compared with T2 (AHP) and T3 (Urea-fermented-AHP) materials. In T2 the material was treated with a solution of 4.2% NaOH and 1% H2O2 in straw: AHP ratio of 1:2 for 6 hrs at room temperature. In T3 urea fermentation (3.5% urea, 40%moisture and 9 d stacking) was followed by T2 as above. Significantly (P<0.05) higher pH of rumen liquor, lower NH -N and NPN and TCA-N were higher in T2 and T3 as compared to T1. The TVFA level was not significantly different among the three groups. It was inferred that both T2 and T3 treatments resulted in better utilization of NH3-Nfor microbial protein synthesis due to higher fermentability of the treated materials.
