Influence of Livol Supplementation on Rumen Fermentation in Cattle

Effect of supplementation of different levels of livql viz 0, 30, 60, 90 and 120 mg on oats fodder, concentrate mixture apd concentrate mixture plus oats fodder (40: 60) were investigated on in vitro rumen fermentation. There was no change in NH₃-N due to supplementation of various livol levels. However, livol at 60 mg supplementation level resulted in increased TVFA concentration (P<0.05) as compared to control. The TVFA concentration (mmole/100ml incubation media) with respect to different substrates was significantly higher (P<0.01) on oats + concentrate (5.71 ± 0.29) as compared to concentrate (4.12±0.11). IVDMD was increased in concentrate + oats due to livol supplementation.
