Cottonseed cake (CSC), linseed cake (LSC), mustard cake (MSC), neemseed kernel cake (NSKC), soy flakes (SF), sunflower cake (SFC), maize (MG), rice polish (RP), wheat bran (WB) and wheat grain (WG) were evaluated for their in sacco rate and extent of DM and N degradation and their RD, N, URN and DUN content. The fate of cell wall N in the rumen of selected feedstuffs was also evaluated. Over 70% NDIN was digestible in NSKC, SFC, WB and WG while the ADIN was completely indigestible. The DM degradation in LSC, SF and MG was not first order possibly due to presence of more than one degradable pool in these t'eedstuffs. The values for EDDM were higher and the values of ‘a’ and ‘b’ only got modified with no effect on fractional rate of degradation when correction was made for the washing losses. The values for ‘a’ and ‘b’ were negatively and significantly (P<0.05) correlated while the differences among ‘a’, ‘b’ or ‘c’ calculated by log transformation (L-T) or single exponential (S-E) method were non- significant. A lag for N disappearance was observed in. LSC SF MG, RP and WG. Out of the 10 feedstuffs tested the direct non-linear least square (DNLS) model for N disappearance data could Fit for 5 feedstuffs only. The correlation between ADIN and effective rumen degradable nitrogen (ERDN) was poor and negative but between EDDM and ERDN was positive and significant (P<0.05). The values for RDN was maximum for MSC by DNLS or L-T or S-E procedure while the UDN content was maximum for NSKC by DNLS procedure and for SF by L-T and S-E procedures Sov flakes CSC SFC and NSKC appeared to be good sources of UDP while MSC WG and RP were good sources of RDP.
